Idaho National Laboratory

UC students at Mt. Borah

Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is part of the U.S. Department of Energy’s complex of national laboratories, and the nation’s leading center for nuclear energy research and development.

INL works with multiple students from UC’s College of Engineering and Applied Science, helping them gain real-world experience. For example, Matt Wiegandt, UC Mechanical Engineering student, currently works as a system engineer co-op, helping researchers and facility managers keep the microscopes and instruments used to analyze nuclear fuel operational.
